Previous meeting notes
- Mark added link to code4lib presentation
- LSAP - Islandora Usage Stats Callbacks - results and next steps
- Passed
- Danni will take it over
- Islandora Org Chart - styling
- Mark J - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6EMDAWm-p57T2dCMmx0RWFLYVFvUzY0V3ZDczIwbU9PQ2Fj/view SFU approved Tony Liu's time to help improve our rough draft
- Feedback - TAG a bit lower to represent report; size of circles not representing the power; combination of changing the name to Coordinating Committee and adding TAG - distinguishing from coordination committee; the role of the coordinating committee not representative; this is what we agreed on https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6EMDAWm-p57VnhxVmdmaFNVd3M/view; visual cue to address the issue of who do I contact about this; If this group is wanting to make some changes, then we can't vote until we work out the required changes; decide on the changes we want
- Rosie Le Faive - make the TAG bubble look less important than the Coordinating bubble; Mark J - if approved, how do we implement it - suggest a scale
- TAG bubble smaller and lower it
- Melissa - Easy proposal: Add an encompassing bubble representing the Islandora Community, around the whole chart - we agreed on it
- Mark - have a few sentences as a caption for the diagram to explain it
- Dotted lines - to be left as they are
- Rosie - the text in the committers bubble is confusing, could it make more clear that "islandora 7.x committers" and "islandora claw committers" are two different things?; add a / or | to differentiate; Proposal: “make it more clear that 7.x Committers and CLAW Committers are two different groups”
- The size of the Board of Directors bubble - stays as is
- David - adding small bubbles around to represent community institutions - feedback: would be too busy and not representing all institutions - idea dropped
- David - maybe add to the big surrounding bubble, on the curvature, some text to explain the larger group of users/community members/installations; feedback: good idea; Mark asked for suggestions for text; David suggested to open it to the community - sperate project led by Melissa and add it later on; for now we will add "Islandora Community + Installations (higher education, organizations, and more)" - voted on and passed
-
Melissa's leave
- Melissa will be away until 4 June 2018. Dany and Mark J are going to help out and cover off some of her responsibilities while she's away.
- Agendas & invites
- Melissa has already created stub agendas in git hub for the next six months
- The chair will take the responsibility for population of agendas and ensuring invites go out
- Anyone in the group can start the call
- Invites - Melissa will send calendar invites for all the meetings to June
- Melissa will document voting procedures, so the chair can be clear on how to handle absent members, etc.
- Listserv monitors
- Need volunteers for list-serv monitoring (only about 2-3 messages on average) to approve posts within 24 hours. Mark Jordan, John Green and Anna St.Onge are willing to step forward in this role. Will follow up with Melissa to get that sorted.
- Question about general questions that we would not want to distract Dany with. Should be posted to Google Groups or posed to Mark Jordan. Questions for the Islandora Foundation should also be directed to Danny and Mark
- Question about the CofC: who is monitoring? Dany. What if the complaint is about Dany? Committee will sort out a contingency plan.
-
Update on OAI-ORE harvesting by Theses Canada - MJ * LAC has been non responsive about the tech specs about harvesting (if you provide the data, we'll comment on it). MJ has been speaking with UofA to start creating a solution. Others interested in joining? Get in touch (Rosie is interested). MJ will open a ticket and proceed from there.
-
Questions (for DGI):
- "What license will DGI's Drupal 8 fork of Islandora be licensed under?" * Licensing for Drupal remains the same, there's no choice there is only [DPL v plus?] *sorry didn't catch that part accurately
- "Will the community be able to make PRs on DGI's Drupal 8 fork, as in the Drupal 7 version of Islandora?" * WP: absolutely, DGI is happy to accept pull requests to all our open repos * MJ: we've already opened a number in [REST?]
- Who holds the tradmark for Islandora's logo? * Islandora as a term is trademarked but the logo is under copyright and belongs to the Foundation. MJ reports that the Foundation is seeking clarity from UPEI about sorting out the IP re. names/logos in various jurisdictions (CAN, USA etc.)

Documentation IG (Melissa) : Nothing to report
-
Dev Ops (Gavin) : Nothing to report
-
Metadata IG (Rosie) : The group met two weeks ago to talk about MODS mapping - they're looking at BIBFrame, EAD and how they fit into RDF. Based on discussion with the CLAW group they're going to push for using URIs instead of strings and work in a mode that supports a linked data mentality.
-
IR interest group (Bryan) - The group is looking at the CORE Next Generation Repository Report which should feed into a series of recommendations for the community. Notes: https://github.com/islandora-interest-groups/Islandora-IR-Interest-Group/blob/master/meetings/2017-11-30.md
-
Security Interest Group (Rosie) - no one on the call had participated in the meeting.
- Danny says they're dangerously close to deprecating CLAW and moving to CLAW Playbook - wrapping up and getting ducks in a row, including documentation about a remote server - can't use outcome of last two community sprints on stuff. They're taking time to delve into Context module to allow users to make choices - trying to move away from Rules a bit. Seth from UN Las Vegas - may be (unofficially) starting a project with CLAW in the new year.
- No new news
