Raw data from all participants show the following design direction for the final boss concept General movement/summoning:
- Emerge from water when summoned
- Walk/march
- Levitating/flying above ground (as an extra feature to walking)
- Jumps over obstacles
Attack:
- Long-range shooting from weapon (e.g. fireballs from trident)
- Melee attack (via armed strike e.g. swinging trident)
- Melee attack (via unarmed strike e.g. punching)
Effect of attack:
- Completely destroys buildings/artifacts (i.e. turn to rubble/ash)
- Damages buildings
- Damages main character's health
- Blows main character into air
- Drains energy from crystal
Explain your enemy and inspiration:
- Summoned rock monster with vines/leaves all around it and glowing eyes (likely blue or orange because she believes they are futuristic colours). The vines/leaves around the monster remind her of the vines/leaves associated with statues of Greek gods and goddesses.
- When she thinks of Ancient Greece, she immediately thinks of ancient stone/rock architectural ruins; hence, the inspiration for an enemy made from these stones/rocks.
Explain how the enemy will move/attack:
- Rock monster will be a normal rock hidden in water and emerge from the water when summoned
- It will break everything in its path, punching buildings and artifacts and turning them to rubble. It will walk rather slowly, in a path towards the crystal.
Explain your enemy and inspiration:
- Half Greek god and half octopus. It’s combining Greek mythology (which she associates with Ancient Atlantis) with underwater elements (octopus tentacles)
- Long hair
Explain how the enemy will move/attack:
- Attacks buildings, objects, the main character and crystal
- Moves by swimming, walking and jumping over obstacles using tentacles
- Shoots special powers out of the trident that blows up buildings and blows the main character into the air, damaging their health
Explain your enemy and inspiration:
- An evil version of the Greek goddess Athena with long hair. She associates Greek gods and goddesses with ancient Atlantis so her inspiration for the enemy is a goddess.
- In one hand she holds an ancient spear and in the other a pole with fire flames coming out of it. She associates fire lit torches with Ancient Greece so that was her inspiration for the flame weapon.
- Evil Athena is wearing a dress, gold sash and crown to indicate she is a superior being (like goddesses in Ancient Greece)
Explain how the enemy will move/attack:
- Uses the spear for basic attacks and the fire flames for the greatest damage. The spear only damages objects/buildings but the fire flames turn everything to ash.
- Focuses mainly on damaging buildings/objects until she reaches the crystal.
- She moves by floating in the air → slightly above the ground.
Explain your enemy and inspiration:
- Inspiration from Pokemon - Thundurus character
- Will have lightning and snakes on the cloud and will fly above everything to indicate superiority (like a god-like character from Ancient Greece)
- Has horns to indicate it’s evil
Explain how the enemy will move/attack:
- Flies over everything
- Attacks buildings, the main character and the crystal all through power surges of lightning. The lightning damages larger buildings and completely destroys smaller objects, turning them to a pile of ruins.
Explain your enemy and inspiration:
- Inspired by Ancient Greek gods and weapons (including a trident)
- Enemy has long hair and a long beard
- Futuristic star-wars like laser gun in the enemy’s holster
- Will have an achilles heel of some sort
Explain how the enemy will move/attack:
- Comes out of the water and leaps onto the land when summoned
- Once on land, he walks but quite slow-moving (statue-like)
- He throws the trident at buildings to attack and cause damage. Each time he throws the trident, it comes right back to him.
- He uses the laser gun to shoot at buildings and the main character to cause damage.
Why did you draw this? What inspired you?: Well, based on the books and movies about Atlantis I think it was a highly advanced civilization. In my case I imagined the boss to be an escaped creature from a secret laboratory, where an accident happened and DNA of a bug and a fish got mixed together.
What type of combat do you expect to see? ok, then first the boss has ‘pincers', so this can be used as a melee weapon to deal extensive damage to the player. Maybe like a super power even. You know he starts to flash and then deals an incredible amount of damage. My boss also has a trident, which can be used to throw fireballs at a distance too. Big and small, so 2 different types.
Why did you draw this? What inspired you? Because I've spent my childhood playing Mario, the first thing that comes to mind is the final boss from my favorite game. Anyway, I think the dragon is something that suits any type of game. Huge monster, awakened by the noise of humans on the surface.
What type of combat do you expect to see? I think he doesn't have super abilities, but he would be fast. I don't like bosses in modern games, they are very slow, so mine is super fast. He has a trident like a Greek god, and can attack players with it. Distance? No, I don't think he needs to throw anything.
Why did you draw this? What inspired you?: I think that the final boss must also attack from water and land so that way he wouldn't be easy to kill! I've added fins and a fish tail so that he can attack from water and also tiny little insect-like legged so that he would be able to move on land.
What type of combat do you expect to see? I don't know, I think something similar to a lizard from Jurassic world that spits acid. He would do that. He can use his trident to cast magical spells while in the water to summon an army which would attack towers and the crystal. Also, I think when the army is summoned he needs to continue casting the spell, this is the time when you can deal damage.
Why did you draw this? What inspired you? My final boss is the huge prawn that took power from the ancient crystal. Although the crystal gave an enormous power it has also consumed the prawn's mind. It now became crazy and huge. Now the prawn seeks vengeance because millions of brothers and sisters were killed (laughing).
What type of combat do you expect to see? Oh, it will be levitating because it is a sacred prawn. It will drain energy from the crystal to become even more powerful. Player needs to stop the crazy prawn from consuming the power of the crystal. The form of the attack will be some sort of an energy beam that it can cast at the player.
Why did you draw this? What inspired you? Maybe some sort of a weapon from the deep ocean. I always was fascinated by Greek architecture and also when I Google "Atlantis" it shows ancient ruins underwater. I think that some kind of a monolithic structure with a portal from which different monsters are pouring out will be awesome.
What type of combat do you expect to see? The structure itself has pillars. The pillar is the energy source for the structure. Player has to balance between destroying the pillars and killing all enemies coming out from the portal and running towards the crystal.
