Bow Design Process

Old Design

User testing feedback (for old bow):

  • Old bow size appears decent
  • Expect a more complex design
  • Boring – bring more colour into it

Bow Design Process

  1. Black outline of the bow
  2. Adding details
  3. Shape fix up, added colour & redesigned arrow
  4. Changed colour
  5. Colour pattern adjusted based on further user testing – previous designs too colourful and didn’t match overall game theme
  6. Black outline to adhere to design guidelines

User testing told us that they would like a more advanced bow - this told me that I shouldn't aim for the classic, skinny bow look and try to expand on the design - at the very least, making it thicker. I experimented with the overall shape and 3 out of 3 users liked how the design looked.

Key Improvements:

  • Size remains similar to original design as users reported it was good
  • Design improved to be more aesthetically pleasing
  • Unique colour pattern
