Creating New Actions for Cards
For anyone wanting to add new abilities to the game, for any new ducks they design, here is the style guide.
Here is an example of what the abilities within the game look like.
This AI (Adobe Illustrator) file is accessible here. AI file in Google Drive
The below image shows the layers of the ability symbol separated and spread out.
From Left to Right, we have the top layer, a low opacity filter to give the tab a bubble like button affect.
Then comes the design layer where most of the editing will happen. This is where you will have the symbol or picture representing the ability. This can be imported from elsewhere but for best results, try designing in illustrator.
The third layer is the background for the image. This can be a solid colour, or more detail can be added as you desire.
Lastly there is the bottom layer which is a solid black box, with a Gaussian blur. This adds a shadow behind the tab, making it stand out better on most backgrounds, and more readily visible.
After editing the 2nd and 3rd layers, restack the layers so that they all line up. And There you have a new Ability Symbol.
After creating a new Symbol, you then need to create a new tab, to display the information about the ability you want to create. These Tabs look like the one below, and are relatively easy to complete. An Example Tab AI document is available from the same folder as the example symbol.
Copy and paste your Symbol from your other AI file into the tab file and place it over the White box, so that it is no longer visible. Grouping the layers first will make the symbol easier to move all at once.
Then add the name of the Ability you are wanting to add.
The last thing you will want to do is fill out the description of the ability. try to use language that cannot be misinterpreted.
Once the Tab is complete, Save for Web and export it as a PNG file.
And there you have it. Make sure to submit any abilities that you create, as there is always room for more additions.
