Inspections
There are multiple inspections per year, from multiple agencies. There are the OLAC/IACUC and AAALAC inspections, the BUA inspection, and the EH&S inspections. This page is an overview- see these individual pages for instructions:
How to pass the ACUC or AAALAC inspection
How to pass the EH&S inspection
How to pass the BUA inspection
Includes making sure everyone is up to date on trainings, that the lab roster is current, and that proper safety signs are posted, among other things. How to pass the EH&S inspection
The Theunissen lab is approved to use a transgenic virus, which requires us to have a BUA. This also covers other agents (chemicals) that we might use that could be harmful. For more (and redundant) information please see our virus page as well as the inspection instructions.
AAALAC inspections are the big inspections, done by an outside body from UC Berkeley. ACUC inspections are basically just tests to get ready for the AAALAC inspection, but that doesn't mean you should take them any less seriously. How to pass the ACUC or AAALAC inspection
