Sea Oats

SirSquidly edited this page Jul 30, 2023 · 8 revisions

Sea Oats are a non-solid, plant blocks. They come in short and tall variants, with the tall variants capable of generating sand⁽²⁾.

Obtaining

Breaking

Sea Oats can be obtained using Shears or Silk Touch enchanted tools. If mined without, nothing is dropped.

Natural Generation

Sea Oats generate in Beach biomes in patches, with tall sea oats generating touching 2 solid block faces, while short sea oats are scattered around them.

Post-generation

Using Bonemeal on sea oats makes it drop an item. Short sea oats cannot be obtained as an item, and instead tall sea oats need to be interacted with using shears to create the short sea oats.

Usage

Sea Oats can be planted on a sand block⁽²⁾, and will spawn random particles of the sand block. These particles are increased if it is capable of Dune Growth.

Using Bonemeal on short sea oats grows it into tall sea oats.

Dune Growth / Sand Farming

If the bottom half of tall sea oats are touching a solid side of a block, it will have the chance to become sandy. Sandy sea oats have a pile of sand added to the bottom half of the tall plant's texture.

Using a shovel on sandy sea oats drops a copy of the sand block the oats are planted on, and reverts to its default state.
