Profile Installation Mode
When a Helios Archive is installed by opening it with Helios Profile Editor, Helios checks whether a single profile was installed (or reinstalled) as a result. This check is done after the choices are made regarding what file versions to install. For example, an archive could contain Profiles for two aspect ratios but force the user to choose one. At that point, there is only one profile being installed and Profile Installation Mode launches.
In this mode, Helios Profile Editor removes all views from the UI and just creates a two-column layout. On the left, it shows Interface Status, and it leaves the right half open for editors that are opened during configuration. Then it covers up the left column with a welcome screen containing instructions.
The user is prompted to visit the Interface Status and start working through the configuration steps indicated by the Interface Status.
When finished, the user can choose to either:
-
return to the welcome screen as directed and use the button "Reset UI" to get back all the default views for Profile Editor
-
perform a "View | Restore Default Layout" to get the same effect
-
exit Profile Editor
After this procedure, users will typically go to Control Center and play with their newly installed profile. However, we currently don't launch Control Center from Profile Editor for them. This should be revisited.
