Antenna Design
The antenna design selected for this project is a simple Yagi-Uda antenna with 5 elements. The design is for a VHF satellite communication in LEO orbits with a gain of 11Dbi. The reason for this is that most amateur satellites communicate in this frequency range and this VHF range allows us to contruct a small antenna compared to LF or HF ranges. Thereby, reducing weight exerted on the relatively low torque stepper motors.

We were able to design the antenna and simulate its performance, but due to COVID-19, we were not able to construct the antenna. We designed it using Antenna Magus software. The elements were to be constructed from a 2.3mm brass pipes as shown in the figure below.
