- Next Meetings / Deadlines
- PMIx ASC Monthly Meeting: 3/10/2022 (No Feb monthly meeting)
- PMIX ASC Quarterly Meeting: 2/15/2022 and 2/17/2022
- Announcement Deadline: Jan. 18, 2022
- Agenda Finalization: Feb. 1, 2022
- PMIx v4 Release Update (Ralph/Josh)
- v4.2 planned for Mid/Late 2022 (as needed)
- Few errata that may be included in release later this year
- See comment in v5 section about having IOF provisional in 4.2
- PMIx v5 Release Update (Ken/Dave)
- Intention is to have v5 this year, main remaining item still pending is the ABI topic
- Next meeting (Jan-2022) is the last meeting for v5 reading (i.e., to have item included in v5)... well, maybe that’s the Q2-2022 meeting. :-)
- Discussion on ABI, we would like to have it in v5, but it may be more complicated than anticipated, it may not be necessarily a gating feature.
- We already have an WIP PR on adding constants, the announce of finalization deadline for v5 will be loosely tied to the progress of this PR.
- Reminder to Thomas for IOF attributes in standard, possibly pursue as provisional in v4. Will sync w/ Ralph.
- Working Group Updates:
- Implementation agnostic document: Dave Solt
- Working on preparing the PR for v5 about put/get/query impl. Agnostic
- Next meeting slated for ABI discussion
- Tools: Isaías A. Comprés
- From brainstorming to prototyping and implementation
- PMIx deeper integration in workload managers
- Start with Slurm (lead by Ralph)
- Currently only “mpi” plunging in Slurm
- Other plugins will be added, such as the “launch” plugin
- Later on others
- Flux a high probability with TUM and LLNL
- Talks with SGE and PBS Pro
- Start with Slurm (lead by Ralph)
- Malleability prototyping (lead by Isaias)
- Previous work from Ralph in Open PMIx
- Deep-Sea project as driver
- Need to collaborate with Dynamic Workflows WG
- Collaboration with the MPI Sessions WG
- As well as MPI Fault Tolerant WG (still forming)
- Proposal coming in for either 5.0 or 5.1
- First PR: Early March most likely
- Dynamic workflows: Justin Wozniak
- Intent to try and tie PMIx into workflow projects, e.g., ECP’s ExaWorks
- Implementation agnostic document: Dave Solt
- ABI Update (Ken)
- https://github.com/pmix/pmix-standard/issues/365 (general issue)
- Slides
- Discussion about memory use of key/nspaces; memory reduction of internal openPMIX impl. Is possible without changes, but the current API promotes libraries/end-users being wasteful. This may motivate an API change that does not waste as much memory
- Announce on a variety of mailing lists to have advice from all stakeholders on this change
- Meeting time for ABI discussion is Jan. 24th, announcement to follow
- PMIx Standard Issues/PRs
- PMIx Governance Issues/PRs
