So to use your windows computer as a playback device instead of a tablet I have used the following software :

You need :

  1. A digigurdy

  2. the soundfront file, that can be found in Basil's repo (i.e. here, this repo -Baz): https://github.com/baz.../digigurdy-baz/tree/main/soundfonts

  3. The sofranzo software : https://www.plogue.com/downloads.html (be sure to download the sofranzo one, and not the other ones in this list)

  4. The Garratian aria audio player : http://ariaengine.com/support/aria-engine-update/ (first link if you put Aria in the search box)

So download the soundfront file, place it in a folder. Then open the sofranzo software, we are going to use this software as an import tool, nothing more. Go to the settings tab and fill in the folder where your sf2 file is in the users file path and in the second one you put the folder in which it can save it. Then click file and Load the sf2 file, and the software will automaticly create a converted file structure in the folder you selected.

Then open the garritian audio player, set the digigurdy as input (it should be plugged in) and load the folders you just created. Then follow John's guide on which strings to put in which channel (the order matters). (channel 1-6 are used) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PvMkpjGo8k&t=411s

Then if you are going to use it with headsets, in the mixer pannel put all Pan sliders to the middle (default they are to the right and I only got sound through one ear when using a stereo capable headset).

Best to save this preset so you don't have to do the work over and over again.

Digigurdy-baz is the awkward name for the software that powers the Digi-gurdy.

The Digi-gurdy is an electronic/MIDI hurdy gurdy.
