In my case expectation was

User is expecting the difference file in case of mismatch but as page counts were not matching , user was unable to receive difference file.
User was able to see that only one page at last is appended and reason was due to format changes in previous pages, resulted in one more additional page.

Added just few basic functions. Please review and add more relevant functions for similar use case.
