Installation Steps ==================== 1. After exporting latest tagged version, make sure directory is accessible by the web server. This is typically done by installing the product as the user 'webster' who is a member of the group 'www'. 2. cd to the 'seqfetch' directory: cd seqfetch 3. Make a copy of the 'Configuration.defaults' file for editing: cp Configuration.defaults Configuration 4. Edit the 'Configuration' file as necessary. Instructions are included in the file. 5. Run the Install script: ./Install <full-path to Configuration.py> For example: ./Install /usr/local/mgi/lib/python/Configuration.py You will see messages as the Install script runs. Lots of them. You may see error messages that indicate problems in the Configuration file. If so, make the appropriate changes in the Configuration file and run Install again. Each time you run Install, the messages you see on the screen are also logged to the file logs/Install.log. Be sure to inspect this file after running Install to make sure there were no errors. 6. Set up rsh on remote GCG server: In the home directory of the user account on the remote GCG server, add or edit a file named .rhosts . Make sure that this file contains the following. <local server> <local webserver username> For example: rohan.informatics.jax.org nobody 7. Make sure temporary directory exists on remote GCG server: The 'GCG_TEMP_DIR' variable in the Configuration file specifies a directory that must exist on the remote GCG server. Create this directory if needed.
