Roadmap Progress

  • Developer support

    • Discord Forums
      • Doesn’t appear in matrix bridge
        • → this makes it seem like we’re deprioritizing it sometimes due to lag in response time
    • Would likely prefer GH discussions/bitcoin stackexchange/discord forums to host this kind of FAQ material. Seeing it being used a lot in other dev libs like the rust discord
    • If we wanna steer ppl to this, will require people to put issues in GH discussions etc. may be a question for users of what they’re most comfortable with
    • Want to avoid qs being asked repeatedly
    • Matt: qs being asked over and over doesn’t necessarily mean we need a q&a forum, means our docs are bad or there’s some issue causing confusion
    • Conor: should be cases where it’s useful tho, nuance-y/custom. Also it’s faster than waiting on us to update the docs
    • Website docs
      • Because they’re maintained separately, they get stale (jeff has pointed this out before)
      • Hard to find time to do it
      • Require some rewriting of prose on that page

  • Payment protocols

    • Offers PRs landing soon
    • Some prereq PRs open for async payments – trampoline portion
    • Open question for – chanman will need to retry trampoline payments. This means basically pulling invoicepayer logic into chanman. How to do this cleanly?

  • Language bindings

    • Cocoapods not maintained :(
    • Arik wants to rewrite bindings codegen. Now that we know more, can write s.t. that codegen code would actually be maintainable/legible
      • Can avoid special case code
      • Also would love to be able to write that in Not Python

  • Taproot support

    • Progress will resume this week

  • Anchor outputs

    • Progress will resume this week

  • LSP

    • No updates from TBD atm

  • WSP (Wallet Storage Provider)

    • May be named ESS (encrypted storage service)
    • Devrandom: the encryption is done by the client, so may be a bit of a misnomer
    • More about versioning

  • LDK Lite

    • Lots of progress. Nothing fuuullly finished but a lot of movement in the right direction
    • Chain sync discussion recently – currently tricky to get the chain::Access right
    • Esplora client, maybe electrum client can be a bit better maybe but missing some api calls
    • Re: bdk hopefully their next release will be on wednesday, meaning elias can finally make use of the needed upstream changes
