Introduction:

In sprint 4, team 2 has decided to design animations for a giant bug monster and a purple squid monster which will appear in level 4. The green giant bug can extend its sting and flap its wings while the purple squid will have animations of eye movement and change of facial expression. To make sure these animations match what our users expect, it is important to a user testing session to see if any major changes are required.

Description:

The goal of this user testing session is to get qualitive data from users on how the animations are perceived in the game and how they are integrated.

For this test, 6 users were gathered to perform the test session. All users were required to be over the age of 18 and can hear the sound whether that be aided or not.

Process:

  1. The users are allowed to watch the animations play one after another.
  2. Once the users have seen the animations they are given a questionnaire to fill out.
  3. Once the users had completed the questionnaire in private, the questionnaires were collected face down and shuffled together to keep privacy and anonymity.

Results:

Analysis:

Overall, the user testing showed that the animation designs were very well done with the overall average score being 9/10. The lowest average score was 9/10 which was achieved by question 1, 4 and 5.

This could indicate there is some room for improvement in the the professional of the animation, the integration of the animation into the surrounding backgrounds and making the animation longer to make it more interesting with multiple viewings. However, will such a high result this critique is minor.
