This page lists changes to files made by the English translation currently in progress by the Taisho Romanization. All content in this page is subject to change.

Fonts

  • Primary font: Kosugi Maru
    • Accented letters are not included in this font. This project uses custom-made accented letters created by combining the included diacritic marks with English letters. The letter Ç uses the cedilla from MS Gothic.
  • Team Status name labels: Bodoni MT Condensed
  • SRPG menu: Shippori Mincho
  • SRPG action bar labels: Century Gothic bold
  • Place name/enemy unit introduction labels:
    • Name: Vivaldi
    • Subtitle: Calisto MT

  • Text box character limit:
    • Original: 16 (includes line break)
    • Changed: 38
  • Text offset:
    • Original: 28 x 28
    • Changed: 11 x 28
  • Text size:
    • Original: 26 x 26
    • The text size is unchanged. New tiles assume a character width of 9, with only the offset changed so the tiles overlap on blank areas.
  • LIPS character limit:
    • Original: 18, calculated by division of dialog box width
    • Changed: 36, hardcoded
  • System message dialog character limit (used in save data management screens):
    • Original: 16
    • Changed: 33

Map label translations

Starting at 0x28998, ten tiles (3380 bytes) are used for translations of map labels defined in script files. Leftover tiles are allotted—but unused in the English translation—for the benefit of potential non-English translators. Labels are translated in the order they appear in-game.
