Development history

  1. The 1st version to generate grain structures was written in 2010 in the department of mechanical engineering at PESIT, Bengaluru, India using the theoretical exposure to grain growth by Dr. Kishore T Kashyap when employed as Junior Research Fellow. The codes were put to use for Dr. Phaneesh Ramachara, now professor at MSRIT, Bengaluru for his PhD work. They however, got it re-written in Java and I have no traceability of it's existence or its development. A slightly improved version of this, available online since 2012 can be accessed from the two links below:
  1. 2nd to 7th version were written during 2013 – 2014 in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Science for my master’s project under the project supervision of Dr. G Narayana Naik (IISc) and Dr. N G Subramania Udupa (NCET). Codes for finite element analysis were written here, which however I have now removed from PXO in the interest of building upon them in a seperate project.
  2. 8th version was written during 2015 – 2016 in the department of mechanical engineering at PES University. Given that very busy schedule that I was then here, very little was improved, but nevertheless, it did stand new with a few necessary modifications.
  3. Version 9 and above were written over the course of this PhD. Developed it multi-fold. I would consider these to be major works and I wished to call the entire code-base as PXO.
