Concept

Design initial notes should be saved for future reference to show future members what was tried and why something may have needed to be changed. They do not need to be complicated and should be added to whatever GitHub issue they fall under. Concepts stage should last maybe a week or get peer-reviewed by the mechanical team before moving to cad.

Tips

  • Determine what the bare minimum functions will be.
  • Add any optional preferred features if other members ask.
  • Check the URC Rules to see if they have guidelines, especially if you are working on a larger system like the arm
  • See if the old Rover has a corresponding Github Issue and note any flaws.

Drawing

Drawings are optional, and if the other divisions in the team gave you preferred placements ask if they can draw their ideas out or add their notes to your Github Issue.

Calculations

*Determine the math behind things like gear ratios or pulleys. If you do not know how to, please do not assume and ask for help. (remind future me to put a link to resources here)

Other Things to Consider

  • Existing Parts
  • Hardware
  • Material
  • Manufacturing Method
  • Cost
