NOTE: This tutorial is outdated since the mod now ships with an offline installer out of the box! Download it here. This tutorial will be using the online installer.

While using the online installer you may have noticed that the mod needs to be downloaded from an external source. However, it doesn't have to be this way. This tutorial will show you how you can use the online installer's offline functionality.

  1. Download the online installer: https://github.com/oliverpechey/Freelancer-hd-edition-install-script/releases/download/0.6/FreelancerHDSetup_v_0_6_online.exe
  2. Download the mod zip from one of the following sources:
    1. https://archive.org/download/freelancer-hd-edition-0.6/freelancer-hd-edition-0.6.7z
    2. https://github.com/BC46/freelancer-hd-edition/archive/refs/tags/0.6.zip
      1. NOTE: Downloading from the GitHub mirror will sometimes result in an incomplete download! Use the archive.org mirror for guaranteed correct downloads.
  3. Inside the folder in which the installer is located, open CMD.
  4. Enter the following command: FreelancerHDSetup_v0_6_online.exe /sourcefile=C:\freelancer-hd-edition-0.6.7z.
    • C:\freelancer-hd-edition-0.6.z has to be replaced with the path where the downloaded zip from step 2 is located. This file name could also end with .zip instead of .7z. If the path contains spaces, wrap it in quotes, e.g. "C:\My folder\freelancer-hd-edition-0.6.7z".
  5. The installer will now launch, and it should install the mod without downloading it.
    1. If the specified sourcefile cannot be found, you'll get an error.
