Raspberry Pi

• We are using a Raspberry Pi 5 as the heart of our balloon.

Sensors

• Onboard sensors include:
  • GPS
  • Climate sensor
  • CO₂ sensor
  • Compass module
  • UV sensor
  • Spectral sensor
  • Methane sensor

Cameras

• We are using:
  • Webcam (5 units for multiple perspectives)
  • Runcam Thumb Pro W for improved video quality through a side plastic window.

Tracking

• Primary: GPS sensor module
• Backup: Spot Trace
  • Note: Includes Spot Trace Flex Basic plan (1 month, setup fee, and annual fee)

Streaming

• MikroTik LDF 2 WiFi antennas for transmitting data and video during live stream.
• Pico APRS for live sensor data transmission after WiFi range.

Storage

• Main: 512GB micro SD card (also serves as boot drive for the Raspberry Pi).
• Backup: External 512GB USB stick.
• Runcam: Separate 256GB micro SD card.

Power Source

• Chosen for weight-saving reasons: 20100mAh power bank. We turn off the NB mode and turn on USB mode

Capsule and Balloon

• The capsule, protected by a 3D printed frame, contains all components.
• We are using a helium-filled balloon for the flight.
• For safe descent, we are using a parachute.
• Additional components:
