  1. Home: Something Shakespeare themed! We want people to get into the spirit of the project here, but not to be intimidated by the difficult material. This is the general layout idea we have in mind. The home page should have a navigation banner on the top, and then the normal Zoo banner at the bottom. It should also allow people to select a genre to work on. If they click 'start transcribing' they'll go directly to page 3 (as described below). If they select a genre they'll go to page 2.

Re: a background image, how's about the one we discussed on 14 October 2015?

Re: the circles, how's about three solid colors, ie. the yellow you have for Shakespeare's head, purple, and something else? Salmon to pick up some of the color in the map?

  1. Once they've clicked on a genre, they'll go to another page that lists all of the manuscripts within that genre, and gives a thumbnail for each and shows percentage complete so far. Once they select a manuscript they'll go to the transcription interface.

  2. Transcribe: The transcription interface needs to allow people to focus on the page to be transcribed, while also making room for the keyboard. This should now appear in the position that Simone has it on http://preview.zooniverse.org/folgerdemo/#/transcribe. In addition to the zoom buttons this page should also have a 'view original' button like those in AnnoTate and Science Gossip (usually just a dogeared page icon).

  3. Work Completed page: When someone has transcribed a page or part of a page, they will be able to click a 'pdf' button to see their work for printing or saving.

  4. Cribsheet: this is a toggled screen/banner running along the right hand side of the page where people can collect snippets of letters and so on that they then store in their user profile to serve as a reminder/prompt about what certain letters look like. Roger mocked one up for Tate once upon a time, which I can email over to you, Jordan.

Other stuff:

  1. About/Team page linking from the home page: This could look a lot like readymade. Doesn't have to be too fancy.

  2. Tutorial will have little gifs and stills. Probably nothing to do here.

  3. Interventions: Little pop up boxes that give people tips about how to read early handwriting. Maybe a bit Chimp&See tutorial-esque i.e. very cute? I think this could involve the head of Shakespeare (a popular icon). The Bard Says/ Pro tips from the Bard. Or something like that...
