Advanced Equipment E3 is a mod for Arma 3 that tries to enhance the usage possibilities of various Arma 3 assets. For example, laptops will be usable with a feature rich ArmaOS Operating System (Terminal, Network, Filesystem and so on). All assets consume power, so there is a need for power management. Computers are connected to eath other via routers. So you have to manage the network settings. Laptops have batteries and can powered up on generators or sun collectors. Lamps are fully usable. The rugged ones can extend/rotate and switch on/off their lights. Lamps also consume power. Sun collectors produce power but are dependant to daytime and sun direction. So you need to adjust their collectors. Power generators need to be filled up with petrol/diesel to continuously produce power. Additionally, euqipment like the rugged tables and chairs and so on have fold/unfold actions and all of the equipment ist carryable/drabable/loadable with ACE interactions.
With basic functions like user authentication, file handling and network capabilities you are able to use the computers like you would do in real life to organize yourself, communicate with others and use intel. You are not limited to specific devices or locations, because everything is moveable and perhaps connected to each other via networks.
Another kind of gameplay we would like to achive is to be able to hack into enemy computers and to manipulate devices oder gather informations or something like that. This isn't implemented right now but will be special gameplay like playing medic. So you need special abilities (assigned by mission creator) and knowledge (about the usage of the computer) to achive your task. Some hacking attempts only take a good amount of time depending on your skills, other tasks perhaps need to be fulfilled using your terminal skills or by solving mini games or puzzles.
Because the whole equipment is capable of beeing fold/unfold, you can put everything (tents, tables, chairs, sun collectors, generators, and so on) on trucks and transport them to the location where you want to build a fob, for example. Then you will have to unload the packages, move them (carrying or dragging) to their designated location and then use unfold/build actions. Finally you will need to lay power and network cables to connect everything. Last but not least you need to power or boot everything and adjust directions for sun collectors, lights etc.
