But I was wondering what is this version of wiringpi-node, seems different to be a clone of the official repo.
And what was the issue with the previous one ?

Hello, The wiringpi lib used by the node wrapper seems to have an issue with kernel 4.9.x, it doesn't recognize correctly the chip. A fix was done on wiringpi 2.44 when the wrapper still use a 2.25 afaik. 2 issues has been opened and still not closed: WiringPi/WiringPi-Node#76 WiringPi/WiringPi-Node#70 I agree, I'm uncomfortable to use an entirely forked lib but on official one nobody is fixing the issue for 3 month.
