The Orange PI radio is a streaming client based on the Orange Pi Lite a I2S Digital Analog Converter (DAC) and a digital class D amplifier. With this device you can listen to internet radio, it is an airplay receiver and will play music with spotify connect. You can control the device either with 2 rotary encoders or a remote control. The Orange Pi Lite is suites very well because it has built in WiFi, a IR receiver an I2S audio interface for good sound quality, several GPIO's for the controls and an I2C bus for a small OLED display.
All parts will cost only between 50$ and 60$ so it is very affordable. If you connect good speakers the sound quality is very good. At normal listening volume the power consumption is below 5W. To get everything put together there is no need for a custom circuit board. All parts are available at Aliexpress. I put the display and the 2 rotary encoders on a prototyping board. But this is not required. For the RCA connectors the switch the power connector and the I2S board it helps if you know how to use a soldering iron.
The case is made of a kitchen container which I got in a grocery store. Since it is translucent there is no need for a hole for the display and the IR receiver. The other holes I either made using normal drills or a Dremel.
