Hello there. I'm Eirik, and I started writing Kubernetes tooling in rust out of need in 2018.

Now I spend a lot of my time maintaining kube, and aiming to create a vibrant Rust ecosystem for Kubernetes.

Open Source Work

• created and maintained kube-rs/kube since 2018
• donated kube to CNCF (project)
• providing a soft migration path for go controllers to Rust through kopium
• spoken at KubeCon and hosted office hours for kube
• writing a controller guide at kube.rs
• maintaining a musl cloud build image for fast rust + minimal docker development environment (why musl?)
• maintaining canonical reference apps for kube; controller-rs + version-rs.

Goals

• Complete kube controller guide
• Support protobuf in kube: https://github.com/kube-rs/kube/issues/725
• Support stream sharing functionality for advanced operators in kube::runtime

Blogging / Speaking

• Spoke about kubernetes generics and kube-rs at KubeCon2020
• Blogging about kubernetes and rust at my otherwise sporadic blog
• Slowly filling in kube.rs
