indie release 1.0.1 – git version 8737a3c
This contains the files for release 1.0.1 of the indie fixtures for Neuropixels 1.0 and 2.0
This approach benefits from the surgical procedures described in https://doi.org/10.1101/2023.12.22.572441 and https://github.com/spkware/chronic_holder
Neuropixels 1.0 files are in the NP1 folder and Neuropixels 2.0 files in the NP2 folder. Each folder contains both STL and STEP files for each part.
We provide PREFORM files that can be used to print on a FORM 3+ printer with GREY PRO resin. The supports were carefully placed on these files to ensure that the parts print correctly.
The stereotax holder parts can be used directly with the Stoelting Standard Probe Holder (remove the plastic part and use the screw to fix it).
Instructions on PREFORM printers:
- Open the preform_indie_NP1_release1.form or preform_indie_NP2_release1.form files.
- Select only the parts that you want to print.
- Use the Array tool to duplicate parts with the supports already in place.
Multiple sizes are provided for the main chassis; the only difference between these is the size of the dovetail socket (see the main readme). Once the selected size for the printer and wash settings is identified you can print with only one size. Please let us know if you have issues with sizing the dovetail socket.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

These designs are not intended for commercial use or distribution.
Please reach out for feedback. Max Melin ([email protected]) and Joao Couto ([email protected])
Note: If you need the Neuropixels 2.0 alpha fixtures, use the files in the repository to generate STL and preform files for NP2a. The instructions for doing that are in the readme of the main repository; please contact us if you need assistance.
Source files can be found in the repository, these can be edited with Autodesk Inventor 2025 - unfortunately backwards compatibility is not supported.
