Also consider using one of the newer package managers built to work with vim 8 such as
[minpack](https://github.com/k-takata/minpac) or
[pack](https://github.com/maralla/pack).

The advantage being that they add install/update/uninstall options as well as configuration.

`pack install lotabout/skim loatbout/skim.vim`


Besides, skim.vim add the interactive version of `ag` and `rg` function, you
could add these lines to your vimrc and try out.
