A polyphonic comparator - generate a gate when the input voltage reaches the corresponding threshold level.

There are 8 levels which are controlled by knobs (with the range of -10V..+10V). Whenever the input voltage reaches a level, the corresponding gate will go high (and the corresponding LED will be on). Please note that the condition is that the input voltage must reach the level, not exceed it - this is why all the LEDs will be on when you add a new instance (all knobs are set to 0 by default, and with nothing patched the input voltage is 0). This makes it easier to control when you want the gates to go high.

The DOT mode changes the behaviour so that only the gate for the highest reached level is on. This is useful if you only want one gate to be active at any given time.

The polyphonic LEVELS input can be used to control levels - 8 voltages applied here will be added to the knob values. Formation module is great for controlling levels, since you can easily create 8 spread voltages instead of setting individual knobs:

You can use Lines to easily visualize the levels.

Plug an LFO into the input and use Comparator to generate 8 gates - and you can change the timing feel by either changing the LFO waveform or by changing the levels. This makes Comparator a great companion for Transgate:
