Project: H2OVue - Water Bill Management System

Schematic Diagram H2OVue is the project of blending modern technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). This project is aimed at simplifying and improving the lives of homeowners by providing an automatic water bill management system. With H2OVue, users can effortlessly obtain their water bills without any manual input. Sensors measure water consumption and calculate the bill automatically.

💡 What Can H2OVue Do?

  • The H2OVue project leverages the Arduino software and ESP32 board in conjunction with a MySQL database and PHP as the backend language. Utilizing a water flow sensor, the system calculates water unit usage and sends this data to the database. A reporting mechanism has been implemented using the TCPDF library and PHP, allowing users to generate and download reports through a straightforward web page.

Step 1:

Begin by crafting a mini water meter using wooden materials and pipes. Integrate a water flow sensor into the assembly to accurately measure water usage. This physical setup serves as the foundation for tracking water flow in your system.

Step 2:

Assemble the ESP32 microcontroller with the water flow sensor on your constructed mini water meter. Establish a connection between the sensor and ESP32 to read real-time values. This step ensures that the system captures precise data reflecting water consumption.

Step 3:

Implement a robust backend using MySQL database connectivity. Send the collected water flow data from the ESP32 to the database for storage. Develop a process to retrieve this data and generate PDF reports using a combination of PHP and the TCPDF library. Finally, create a simple web page to showcase these PDF reports, providing an easily accessible interface for users to monitor and analyze their water usage.
