An employee directory react application where one can browse , sort and search for employees.
This app creates an employee directory by using data from randomuser.me API. With this app, one can view the employee directory, search for a particular employee or employees that match the search string. Also the employees can be sorted based on name or DOB. This app is bootstrapped with Create React App. This is front-end only application with a front-end API call fetching necessary data for display.
The deployed application can be found at: https://s-suresh-kumar.github.io/workplace-directory/
Just clone the repository, and issue npm i
to install dependencies. To use locally, one has to issue npm start
which will launch the app on the default browser.
Either you can play with the app on local host or deploy it in github gh-pages or deploy it in Heroku so that one can access the functionality of the app. Using the app is pretty straight forward. To begin with 200 random users / employees are fetched from randomuser API and rendered as table of users showing picture, name, phone, e-mail and date of birth in respective columns. Using the search box, one can search for a set of employees or a specific employees, as the user keeps typing, the table is automagically re-rendered by react filtering the number of users filtered by the search string. Also the app allows sorting to be performed based on name of employee or DOB of the employee.
