I developed {readMDTable} based on this and several other use cases I've seen, plus finding that most options for reading such tables didn't seem maintained/tested/etc.

Awesome! I'm pretty sure I can use this in some TidyTuesday-related repos, too!

Cool! The dev version has a new function that will be much more helpful in scraping out all tables from a markdown file. Will release next month (I hope).
