Hi and thanks for the contribution! Just so you know, this PR currently targets the main which at the moment is the source of our "-alphaNN" releases. If you want this change to show up in a 1.x release, please change the target branch to be "release-1.x".

I will convert this one to draft and once done experimenting will create a new PR, or recreate this one with cherry-picked commits solving the problem of linking libpthread issue.
