Prestashop seems to be kind of bugged when it comes to module translations... When accessing the translation page directly from the module's settings page, it does not find the existing translations. When access the translation page from the Localisation menu, it does not save the file containing translations in the module directory, but instead in themes/default/modules/etc.
This is quite annoying. So when adding/changing translations for the module, remember to always use the direct access from the module's config page.
