Thanks, it definitely makes sense but at this stage I can't accept this PR as I'd like to have Python 2 AND Python 3 compatibility. If you are willing to make this work I'm happy to accept. |

Fair enough, I'll just leave it as it is then, people can always find other peoples forks |

Saw liwt31's fork that added Python 3 compatibility. Thought the changes should be added to the original.
