medwards’ development environment is on Ubuntu and uses Ruby 1.8 + Rails 2.0 + MySQL (4 or 5 should be fine)

For guidance on obtaining Rails 2.0 gems under Debian-based distro use this guide and install RubyGems via source.

Gems you’ll want:

  • SafeERB (is this a plugin?
  • Hpricot
