The Windows download is a package that installs FDS and Smokeview in the Program Files\FDS directory, copies documentation to the Start menu, and defines environment variables and file associations so that FDS and Smokeview may be run from the command line.
The Mac OS X and Linux downloads are bash installation scripts that copy the executable files, documentation, and examples to a user-specified location and defined environment variables so that FDS and Smokeview may be run from the command line.
