NHK Easy News Enhancer

Userscript to enhance readability, usability and general cohesion on NHK Easy News.

Features

• Adds a button to show/hide furigana at will! (reduce reliance on furigana and learn Kanji)
• Replaces flash audio with cleaner and more lightweight HTML5 audio.
• Clean up, reduce clutter and extra text from website (superfluous footer, header, etc.), to reduce distractions while reading.
• (Optional) Change to a custom font to improve legibility (Noto Sans CJK JP Regular)
• Automatically updates when new features come out!
• Lightweight and fast!

Install Instructions

NHK Easy News Enhancer is a userscript and thus requires a userscript manager to run. If you have one already, skip step 0.

0. Install a userscript manager extension. (e.g. Violentmonkey: Firefox/Chrome/Opera)
1. Download script and install it in your userscript manager (in VM, click Confirm Installation)
2. (Optional) Install the font Noto Sans CJK JP Regular. This is used to make text more legible on the site.

Go to NHK News Web Easy to use.
