In case you did not already see this, macrostep is now available on NonGNU ELPA. In that ELPA archive, releases are only made when the "Version" header is increased. This means that it is currently distributing an old version from 2015 without the latest fixes.

Please consider bumping the version number to 0.10 to trigger a release of the latest version there.

Thanks!

@skangas and I have contacted @joddie by email, offering to take over as maintainers. Unfortunately we have not heard back.

Never-the-less I have now updated Melpa and the Emacsmirror to get the package from https://github.com/emacsorphanage/macrostep.

@skangas, please update NonGNU Elpa to get the package from the orphanage. I have not yet created a new release in case you would like to make some changes first.

@skangas I've bumped it to 0.9.1.

I've you are still interested in getting involved maintaining this package, see emacsorphanage#1, which I use to track old issues from this repository.
