Can't find device

If you can't find the device, it is most certainly a network issue. As such, you should try one of these solutions:

  • Ensure that you do not have more then one Network active (be it WiFi or Ethernet), disable all other unused Networks, even ones created by Virtual Machines, this is one of the main issues that can cause discovery failures

  • Restart Network Adapter (not just the wifi connection) and try again. (restarting Powder and/or the Casting Device may also be needed, but in most cases it won't)

  • Restart Router then restart the Casting Device and try again.

  • Try changing your IP on the Local Network. (some devices can block your IP periodically by presuming it was flooded if you wore scanning insistently)

  • Consider buying a new Router, the quality of your router is important for successful discovery.

DLNA Only

If you are scanning for DLNA Devices, some discovery issues can also be solved by following these steps:

  • Start scanning by pressing "DLNA" in the Casting Menu
  • Click the "Refresh" button
  • Click the "Back" button
  • Start scanning again by pressing "DLNA" in the Casting Menu again

If it worked you should see the DLNA Device show in the Scanner's Device List.

Keep in mind that you can also change the DLNA Finder module (you can select from 3 different modules) in the Main Menu or Player Settings. Changing to a different Finder module might increase the chances of a successful discovery for your situation.

This setting was created due to the great number of different devices on the market in order to give more flexibility to DLNA Scanning.

Another interesting thing to note is that every time you successfully discover a device, it's address is saved and checked for automatically every time you scan.

This does not mean that finding your device once guarantees fast discovery in the future, as the address can change on the Local Network, what it does mean is that repetitive discovery of the same device increases the chances of successful discovery in the future.
