TensorFlow is an open source software library for numerical computation using data flow graphs. Nodes in the graph represent mathematical operations, while the graph edges represent the multidimensional data arrays (tensors) that flow between them. This flexible architecture lets you deploy computation to one or more CPUs or GPUs in a desktop, server, or mobile device without rewriting code. TensorFlow was originally developed by researchers and engineers working on the Google Brain team within Google's Machine Intelligence research organization for the purposes of conducting machine learning and deep neural networks research. The system is general enough to be applicable in a wide variety of other domains, as well.
Install NVIDIA CUDA packages from multiverse repository:
$ sudo apt install build-essential nvidia-cuda-toolkit libcupti-dev zlib1g-dev
Install NVIDIA cuDNN 4.0:
$ sudo tar -C /usr/local -xzf /mnt/dl/mirror/cudnn-7.0-linux-x64-v4.0-prod.tgz
$ sudo cp /mnt/dl/etc/ld.so.conf.d/cuda.conf /etc/ld.so.conf.d/
$ sudo ldconfig
Check out the TensorFlow 0.8.0, modified to work on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and with older NVIDIA GPUs with compute capability 3.0:
$ git clone --recursive [email protected]:/hholst/ea-tensorflow.git
Install Google build tool Bazel (and JAVA JDK)
$ sudo apt install openjdk-8-jdk
$ bash /mnt/dl/mirror/bazel-0.2.2-installer-linux-x86_64.sh --user
Create an Anaconda environment containing the build tools needed:
$ conda create -n ea-tensorflow python=3.5 swig numpy
