The VRMS UI/UX design workflow is based out of Figma.
- Product Managers specify requirements for release plan in Product Requirements Document (PRD) and develop wireframes in Figma page labeled Wireframes.
- UI/UX designers revise style guide at most 1x per release (e.g., v0.4, v0.5) and maintain WIP Style Guide of updates in Figma.
- UI/UX designers develop designs in Figma page labeled WIP ("work in progress"). Feedback and discussion conducted primarily via Figma's comment feature.
- Product Managers approve screens that meet acceptance criteria by copying to a Figma page labeled Approved, and commenting "approved" on each screen moved to the approved page to notify UI/UX designers of approval. Product Managers run complex/complicated design features by Engineering Lead prior to approving.
- UI/UX designers polish approved designs to adhere to appropriate Style Guide and then copy screens to Figma page labeled Final, and notify Product Managers via Slack that designs are finalized. Designer should link to the Figma screens in message.
- When appropriate, Product Managers update design links in PRD and post update to Slack channel #vrms-ui in the following format: "@TechnicalLead designs for all PRD features 3.07, 3.08, 3.09, 3.10, 3.11, 3.14, and 3.15 are finalized and ready for dev. PRD links have been updated." PM should link to the feature documentation in PRD.
