'Tic-tac-toe' (American English), 'noughts and crosses' (Commonwealth English), or 'Xs and Os' (Irish English) is a game for two players who take turns marking the spaces in a three-by-three grid with ❌ or ⭕. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row is the winner!
🤓Fun-fact: an early variation of tic-tac-toe was played in the Roman Empire, around the first century BC. It was called terni lapilli (three pebbles at a time) and the game's grid markings have been found chalked all over Rome.
