Looks good! I added a couple comments where I think clarification would help an outsider get up-to-speed more easily. Clarifying what we assume fairness of is important for understanding exactly why our current solution doesn't work - naively, you might assume the body of the for loop runs atomically, in which case it's enough to assume weak fairness of the each loop iteration.
