This is a simple layer I created to go along with the two Emacs packages provided by the RecUtils project. I may expand this to install other database-related items if I need them.
Firstly, you’ll probably have the RecUtils package installed for this to be very useful, however it’s not required (Emacs can read and syntax-hightlight a .rec file just fine without the command line utilities). If you don’t, and you want them, you can install with your distro’s package manager (e.g. in Ubuntu-based ones):
$ sudo apt install recutils
If you don’t have the package installed you can just download an archive of it from the RecUtils web site. Next, you’ll need to get the the Lisp packages for the recutils mode (rec-mode.el) and Babel handler (ob-rec.el).
- If you installed through a package manager, check where the package installed them. On Ubuntu it’s in
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/*.el
. - If you downloaded, just sift through the archive for them.
Put these into your .emacs.d/private/local/
directory, each in their own folder with their name minus the “.el” part. Then extract this archive to .emacs.d/private
, or clone the repo there if that’s your thing. You should end up with a directory .emacs.d/private/database
.
Finally, add databases
to your ~/.spacemacs
. You will need to add databases
to the existing dotspacemacs-configuration-layers
list in this file.
No additional keybindings outside of what the packages themselves provide.
