Currently, this is just a list of brainstorms, separated by type of player interaction.

Since this is a game we'll want people to play long-term, there isn't a final "goal", just a series of progressively larger accomplishments. Keeping this in mind, everything the the player can do has to have something that can follow it.

Shit You Can Do (Or, "Ways to Make Money")

  • Burials - People die all the time, you bury them. Simple gravestones and a plot take up one grid square.
  • Cremations - Gets rid of bodies faster, but due to cost of cleanup and lack of arrangements, there's not as much money to be made here. The advantage is that cremations don't take up any more land than is required to own an oven.
  • Gravedigging on friends' maps - Might not turn up anything, might turn up something. Could find money, special items, etc. Friend might have defenses put up that are difficult to get past. If anything, it gives us an excuse to give that player an alert to bring them back to the game.
  • Tours - There are all kinds of freaks that would be interested in a cemetery tour, so let's give it to them.
  • Assassins? - This isn't fleshed out, but there should be a way similar to this to increase body count.
  • Reputation - Build this up by having fancy burials, nice facilities, no vandalism, and so on. Demolishing graves will decrease this, but, you need the land, don't you?

Shit You Can Buy (with in-game money, earned through normal play or, if you're sad, Facebook credits)

  • Upgrades are the main big one - you can customize your graveyard, but at a price.
  • Gravestones, from shitty to fancy to exorbitant
  • High-class mourners
  • Decorations - lightposts, flags, flowers, etc. (Weeping Angel statue? Eh? Eh?)
  • Walkways and path tiles of different colors - this could be expanded to all kinds of different floor coverings and tiles available for purchase.
  • Cryptkeepers - can patrol the graveyard, repairing things. Scares prevents vandalism, provides food for the undead.
  • Different fence/gate styles

Random Events

Gotta keep things spontaneous. Random events can be good or bad.

Good:

  • War
  • Plague
  • Presidential Assassination
  • Celebrity deaths (As long as we're going for offensive, we could make these not random, but corresponding to actual celebrity deaths. In this way, we can classically condition people to get online when Kim Kardashian dies. I am 100% behind the idea of profiting off of that.)

Bad:

  • Vandalism, because kids are dicks
  • The undead rising to eat your cryptkeeper, break things and dance
  • Westboro Baptist protests occasionally at soldier funerals. Your cryptkeeper is a grizzled old man living off of social security, and could probably be convinced to kill them for the right price.
