Time-to-full-load stays the same, but no loss either. In my tests it resulted in a consistent ~30% decrease of the "delayed animation frame" time when the model is first shown.

@sdumetz Thanks for the PR! I like the optimization. The only issue I'm seeing is a degraded experience with the interaction prompt with some larger multi-model scenes. Once I can work that out I think it will be good to go.
