Hi 👋, I'm Phoebe

A Software Engineer from London with past-lives as an actor and educator

😀 Pronouns: she/her

Passionate and inventive software engineer with a unique blend of technical proficiency and creative flair, honed through experience in the fields of education, cultural heritage and the arts. Proven ability in problem-solving and effective communication. Hands-on expertise in JavaScript, Node.js, Typescript, HTML, CSS, SQL and Python, complemented by intensive training on the Founders and Coders Software Foundation programme.

My journey into coding:

A few years ago, I undertook a part-time Masters in the Reception of the Classical World, taking modules in Exhibiting Classical Antiquities and Digitising Cultural Heritage. A unifying factor across my work was accessibility and how digital solutions could be used to facilitate this. We used programs such as Blender alongside exploring online platforms based around crowd-sourcing and community mapping. While I loved the creativity and real-world value of the projects I was designing, I was blown away by the options open to those who could code. I came to view it as an incredible tool, with the capacity to make real change.

As a result, I started teaching myself to code. I found flow like I hadn’t experienced in years. The logical structure of coding resonated remarkably with the classical languages I knew, helping me grasp complex programming concepts more easily. I get a huge sense of satisfaction from the blend of constant learning and building products with real-world value, wholeheartedly embracing the learn-as-you-build mentality.
