User Manual

You can follow these steps for a fast and easy way to use multihoming at home.

  • Get the recommended router (Linksys WRT1200AC)
  • Download this image
  • Upload it via the original router firmware
  • Configure LISP parameters
  • Enjoy multihoming!

Router Model

The OpenWrt image is built for the Linksys WRT1200AC router, since it meets the requirements to support multihoming and to run the OOR daemon smoothly.

Once you get your hands on it, connect two internet cables to the ports shown below (Internet and Port 1). Connect the cable to your PC in any of the free ports left.

The next step is downloading the image and prepare the router to load it.

Now turn on your router, open your preferred browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1. You should see this screen:

Click on the Connectivity link, on the left panel.

It will take you to this configuration page:

Here you have to use the Manual upload button. It will show you a standard file manager screen, where you can pick the previously downloaded file.

The router will then reboot itself and install OpenWrt. This installation may take some time, so don't panic. After it finishes, you can navigate to 192.168.1.1 again. Now you will see the web interface for OpenWrt. Mouse over the Network option and click OOR Configuration.

To fill this information up, contact with your LISP provider and they will send you the details.

If you just want to test multihoming with LISP, the OOR team coordinates a best-effort LISP beta network you can join for free. Just email us saying that you want to try it out and we will forward you the necessary information.

After the form is filled up, click on Save & Apply. The OOR service will be restarted and you will be enjoying multihoming.
