SAMPLE For portions of the 259.4 MeV run and the entire | ||
254.6 MeV run, a 55 mug/cm**2 thick carbon stripper | ||
foil was mounted directly upstream of the target to | ||
increase the charge state of the beam. | ||
For the 231.2 MeV irradiation, targets with average | ||
thicknesses of 558-mug/cm**2 206PbS, 522-mug/cm**2 | ||
207PbS and 531-mug/cm**2 208PbS were used. All PbS | ||
targets were covered with 10-mug/cm**2 C-nat. | ||
244PuO(2) targets (isotopic composition- 97.9% 244Pu, | ||
1.3% 242Pu, 0.7% 240Pu, and less than 0.1% other were | ||
used. irradiated. The 244PuO(2) targets were prepared | ||
on 2.22+-0.05 mum thick Ti foils by electrochemical | ||
deposition from isobutanolic solution. Over the course | ||
of the experiment, four 244Pu target segments with a | ||
beam dose weighted average target thickness of | ||
438-mug/cm**2 244Pu as 495-mug/cm**2 244PuO(2) were | ||
irradiated with typical beam intensities of 2*e+12 | ||
particles 1/s. | ||
