There are a number of international airports in the region, including Frankfurt (FRA) and Düsseldorf (DUS).
There's also the local airport Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) which can be the best choice when arriving with an internal flight in Frankfurt or Munich (MUC).
(People arriving from the UK note that there's a nice direct flight from London "Southend")
Attendees who are willing to make their arrival details public can do so here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13USqwRhyx8dOrGLgcEoodqHZ3EadSFy6wqRqVk4VRCo/edit#gid=0 - it might help sharing taxis and finding your way from DUS to Münster.
Details of train service to Münster can be found at bahn.de.
Approximate travel times to Münster by train from:
- FRA: 3 Hours
- DUS: 1.5 Hours
(Both connections usually require changing trains at least once)
The most convenient DB station to arrive at is 'Münster (Westf) Hbf' (where 'Westf' stands for 'Westfalen'; there are a few more places called 'Münster' in Germany).
Note that Münster's train station building is currently being re-built, so there'll be lots of construction around. Taxis will be available at the current exit of the station (for some value of "station").
You can also take a bus: line 6 to "Kinderhaus", exit "Germania Campus" (during the day) or N81 to "Moorhook" (in the late evening). Both leave from bus station B2, which is in front of the (non-existing) train station; when you exit the train station turn right twice and use the tunnel to get to the front.
We strongly suggest you stay at the Factory Hotel; special rates will be e-mailed to you.
Note that coffee and croissants will be served at the conference, so depending on your needs, you might not need to pay extra for breakfast.
Lunch is included with registration, as will be morning and afternoon snacks.
We will be arranging group dinners for some nights; details TBD.
The meeting hotel is around 1.5 miles from downtown with relatively frequent (12 min during the day) bus connections (lines 6 and 22).
During the meeting and depending on weather conditions, it may be a good idea to rent a bicycle (either at the hotel or at the train station (https://www.radstation.de))
For people interested in Münster's history, I have used Calibre to combine several Wikipedia pages into ebooks (so you can have them available while working around), both in epub and mobi format. You can get them from (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mhvb24ppmhlz0mv/AADphoMZAzUE3R_VkJucJFIga?dl=0).
