This is the repository for the ESIP Lab Summer Incubator 2019 Project: "Scalable Serverless Workflows for Processing Cubesat Imagery to IdentifyFlowering Hotspots in Sub Alpine Meadows"
The link to the proposal is here.
- Example workflow notebook for retrieving Planet Imagery
- Example workflow notebook for retrieving Landsat imagery
- Example workflow notebook for calculating phenology from NDVI
Note that each square in the image above represents a short Python code that is executed in Lambda.

Develop workflow on AWS We executed the codes in the Notebook repository using AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate (container orchestration) for longer run times. The code in the notebooks should as standalone Python scripts without the use of AWS Lambda. See the image above for how each code snippet corresponds to a Lambda function.

Test and validate workflow with Planet imagery and in-situ data All results are available in this presentation: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1AlCy55YtAT0OVF7tbH1M6R792Eu2RTtcEoDESteAHbM/edit#slide=id.p1

Conference travel, presentations and reports to the 2020 ESIP Winter meeting We presented our results from No.2 at the ESIP 2020 Winter Meeting
We are currently working on expanding the scope of this project i.e. using serverless processes to working on identifying greening of Arctic lakes. We have also presented at the ESIP 2020 Winter Meeting and the 12th IEEE/ACM International Conference
We are currently working on a manuscript to be submitted to the Journal of Remote Sensing
